Happy 5th Birthday, Ollie Bear!

Dear Ollie Bear,

Wow, you are five years old!!! Such a big boy now! And such a sweet, loving and caring big boy you are…

I want to remember how darling you are at 5 years old, so here’s a little about you. ♥

The number one thing you love is family. You idolize your big sister Sophie… and you are so caring and protective of your baby sister Sasha. You play with both of them so well, and you love when family comes to visit. You are so sweet and affectionate, and you are also empathetic and very caring toward others. Your teachers tell us that you are the first one to the aid of a crying classmate, and you are always offering to share with your friends. It’s no wonder Sasha cries when she doesn’t get what she wants, as you most always hand her the toy you are playing with if she wants it. ♥

You are very popular at your new school (just like you were at your old school). All the kids are happy to see you when you walk in the classroom, and all the girls want to “marry” you. It’s so sweet! Must be those big brown eyes of yours. ♥ You have the cutest laugh, and you laugh all day. You are truly a happy little boy. And you are a brave boy! You never cry when you have to go the doctor, or even when you get shots. And you take your medicine like a little man. Your sisters could learn so much from you! And though you are big boy brave, you still are afraid of the dark… so your big sis sleeps in your room with you every night. Sometimes we hear you two giggling well after your bedtime, but we are so happy that you have each other. ♥

You love trains, trucks, Star Wars, the “Old Platypus”, and all the Super Heroes. You love your Batman jammies- cape and all, and you wear it every time your preschool has pajama day. You love your new cowboy boots, your cool sunglasses, your spiderman snow boots (which you wear with shorts on sunny days), and you would wear your little red sweatshirt every day if you could.

Not only are you a big boy, but you are a very smart boy… you love to learn. You are the best at puzzles, and your teachers tell us that you are the only one that can put together every puzzle in your classroom. You are tidy too- both at school and at home (just like your Daddy). And yes, you are still a Daddy’s boy… and you love it when everyone tells you that you look just like him.♥

So Happy Birthday sweet Ollie! We love you so much! We are so proud of you as we watch you blossom before our eyes… May you always stay as loving and sweet as you are today… We know you will. ♥

All my love,
Mommy xoxo

Sasha’s Birthday (cont’d) :)

We surprised Sasha with presents and balloons in our newly unpacked (but still not totally organized or decorated) playroom. The room is huge, and the kids already LOVE playing in there. I’m sure I’ll spend hours scouring over playroom photos on Pinterest in search of creative ideas of what we can do with this room. (all ideas and suggestions welcome) :0

Sasha’s favorite gift was the retro pink kitchen she always loved to play with at Pottery Barn Kids (we used to stop in just so she could play). We stalked the fridge, etc. full of toy foods (which she loves). Sasha is really into imaginative play (it’s so cute)! We also made a nursery section for all of Sasha’s baby dolls, etc. Ollie has an entire corner for his trucks and boy things, and Sophie has an armoire full of crafts and art supplies along with an art table and easel. The lighting is awful in this room (it used to be a theatre, so there are only four large dormer windows… but I was able to get a few photos anyway. Sasha had a very happy birthday!

The Red Barn

The big red barn out here in the country… Took this early this morning & wanted to share it today in remembrance of September 11th. The American flag, though, hangs all year long (I love that) ♥

Happy 3rd Birthday Sasha!!

Dear Sasha Lili,

Today is your 3rd birthday, my sweet baby girl… you are getting so big!   Even though you are three, you still insist that you are six (you always have).  You are so funny- you always keep us laughing.  Yes, you are sweet and funny; but you are a little feisty too.  You want what you want when you want it (and you usually find a way of getting it)! :)

Here’s a little more about you at three…   You love lots of things, and you often remind us of your list… “Me love babies and bobos (kitties) and horsies, and…”   And you frequently come up to me and say, “Me love you, Mama.”  That melts my heart. ♥  Lately, when I sing the “I Love Sasha” song to you, you sing it with me only you change the “Sasha” to “Mama”.  It’s so sweet.

Your favorite color is pink.  You love pink everything.  We decorated your new room with lots of pink, and when you walk in, you say “Me looooove my pink room!”  You also love ballet.  You do ballet for us every night… you do plie, arabesque, releve, and tendu (which is my favorite because when you tendu, you say “Tenduuuu” in your softest voice).

You have lots of shoes, but you insist on wearing either your black or white patent leather Mary Janes ALL the time.  You refuse to wear any other shoes (except rain boots on occasion).  You call them your “high heels”, and they are all scuffed from playing outside.  But you love them.

Your favorite foods are pizza, canteloup (tanayope), green beans, and especially chocolate. You loooove chocolate!  You and Daddy have a nightly ritual of eating chocolate kisses together before bedtime.  You two are so sneaky with the chocolate kisses (it’s so cute).  When I asked you what you wanted for your special birthday dinner, you answered “Pink cake”.  When I explained that you just couldn’t have cake for dinner, you added… “Okay, pink cake and chocolate cupcakes!”  :)

You collect babies… you have so many baby dolls, and you are always happy to get a new one.  Today  I am giving you a special baby… her name is Penny, and she wears a pretty white pinafore.  I have two of these dolls for you.  I will give you one today, and I’m saving the other for when you have a baby girl one day.  Maybe you can give her to your daughter when she turns 3 too.  ♥

Happy Birthday my sweet Sasha… even though you are three and insist that you are six, you will always always be my baby.  I love you with all my heart. ♥

Love and kisses, Mommy xo

Beautiful….

Yes, it is most certainly beautiful here…  Not a day goes by that I don’t find myself in awe of how very beautiful the countryside is.   Though I haven’t had a chance to go out shooting yet, I have snapped a few photos around our house real quick…  Sasha likes to walk across the street to the lake to look for our neighborhood geese.  Here she is this morning (though the geese were nowhere to be found). :)

When we moved here, I gave Sasha a new baby doll… she has blonde hair like Sasha, she wears pink (Sasha’s favorite color), and she has a bobo (kitty) on her dress.  So Sasha named her Baby Sasha but commonly refers to her as “Pink Baby”.  Sasha takes her everywhere… it’s the sweetest thing.

Our house is across the street to the right and the lovely lake is to the left.  The fence was recently placed here & I’m so grateful that I don’t have to worry about my kids riding their bikes into the lake…lol.  I heard the neighbors new small kids were moving in, so they had the fence installed.  So far, we’ve  met 5 of our neighbors… two of which helped us look for our cat Baby Pumpkin who went missing for 4 days (the painters left a window open).  With all the huge hawks, foxes, and coyotes, we feel very lucky that he survived.  You should have seen us all rejoicing when all skinny and tattered, he showed up at our back door during dinner one night.  Sophie said God answered her prayers… I think He did. ♥

So here are our geese.  Yesterday afternoon, there were about 40 of them on our front lawn.  Here they are scurrying to the lake as we drove out of our driveway. I still can’t believe we live on this beautiful tree lined street. No parked cars, no traffic, and no sidewalks because you don’t need them.  A couple of the neighbors even let their dogs out to play.  A big beautiful yellow lab came and stayed for a couple days at our house when we first arrived.  Our kids actually thought he was ours (they even named him)…  I’m not sure yet who he belongs to, but I hope he comes back soon. :)

Not the best picture, but the lake is so pretty as the sun sets. This is the view we have from our upstairs balconies (past our land & tree lined street).   And as we leave our neighborhood and drive further out into the country, it’s just as beautiful… it almost looks like English countryside in some areas.  And the barns… oh the barns.  I could spend every day shooting the barns alone.  Maybe make a coffeetable book…  So much beauty, and so little time.  I look forward to finally getting upacked, caught up, and relaxed…. hopefully soon. ♥
